It's too early to retire at 26yrs.
Is Khan draining himself making the 140lb limit? His body has matured this last couple of years, is the making weight zapping all of his strength?
Like most people, I was in total shock after watching the performance against Diaz... I had an image that this Virgil Hunter dude would remedy all of Khan's defence problems..... I couldn't be more wrong!
Khan produced zero improvement, and if anything, was a whole lot worse than when he was under Freddie Roach.
Khan has always been a toe to toe guy... That's all he knows. It's hard to teach a slugger to 'box intelligently' when wars is all they have ever known.
You are correct... Every challenger now has the blue print to rock Khan. Get up close.. Hit the button, and follow on from there.... Once Khan starts running on chicken legs, he is wide open to a finishing shot..
Khan is in serious trouble... Can he compete with a current world champion? Can he protect his chin for 12 rounds? Can he learn defensive moves? It's doubtful.
Khan needs to ditch Virgil Hunter... He needs somebody like one of the Mayweathers to school him.. Maybe move up a weight, see if an increase in weight will settle him more..
Either way, his next fight is going to be very interesting.
(Maybe Prince Haseem seen the writing on the wall after his first defeat...? Maybe Khan should consider another line of income..??)
it makes it way more exciting though I guess. amir has a hell of a fighting heart but definitely a glass chin too, but it means every time he fights it's worth watching because he's extremely fast and talented...but can get KO'd at any time. Imagine how tense it would be watching him fight someone like matthysse.
all his opponents will know now that they have to get inside and put a bomb on him, so we're pretty much guaranteed a war every time he fights. he's young and has more to give. being talented but fragile didn't ruin hearns reputation too much so I'd like to see khan fight on for a while yet. There's still some good matchups out there.
He needs to take the more defensive approach. He needs to turn himself into another Mayweather, literally because that is the only way he will make it to the top. Defense.
He still 26 years old, too young to retired.
Where does he go from here? He is ALWAYS going to be in trouble against top fighters.. Julio Diaz is not noted as a big power puncher and look what he did to Khan.. He simply just cant take big punches and never will be able too,you can see he has worked on his neck muscles but it has done no good. Swapping from Roach to Hunter has not changed anything,he looks worse if anything. I just cant see where he is going to go from here,he will beat average light punchers like molina but against any of the top 140 pounders or anyone with a bit of power he is always going to be in danger of getting knocked out. He is getting dropped and rocked in nearly all his fights and has to go on the run. He will never make it to the top like that.
