@INTREPID -- So where do Ernie Shavers, Cleveland Williams, Ron Lyle and Sonny Liston fit?? Are you just going to write off them?? All four were known for being extremely heavy handed and are always mentioned in the, "Top Hardest Hitters of all time" list. Frazier slow? Absolutely not. He had one of the quickest left hooks known to man.
Far as Holmes beating ALI, ALI was nearly 39 years old. He was on the very back side of his career. He was used up and had nothing left. Holmes was in his prime when he fought ALI. Now when Holmes fought Tyson, he was on the back-side of his career. You can't use Holmes as a gauge, no more than I can brag about beating up an 85 year old tough guy and use that as a gauge of how "tough" I am. That is basically what you are doing.
I won't call ALI, "The Greatest," but he defiantly deserves to be in the argument. Tyson was a beast as sdf stated, but I am not for sure if Tyson cracks the Top 10 of all time. If he does, he is at the bottom.
Tyson all the way because ali whisper in tyson ear beat this guy because
Ali lost to him and mike tyson defeat the boxer who beat ali
Boxer beats fighter 65% of the time.
See Tyson vs Buster Douglas and see how horrible the fighter Tyson looked vs just a good boxer. Plus he got KO'd, no excuses. He and his trainers knew he couldn't beat a real boxer, thats the real reason they dipped on him, so their record as coach won't have an unforgivable lost on it's record, becuz of the fake hype Tyson has.
Ali beated the powerful Foreman, and Tyson was scared to fight Foreman.
See Tyson vs a slower boxers like lennox, and douglas. See how stupid and lost a fighter looks if a boxer knows what they're doing, or is not paid to get KO'd and get 10% of Tyson's future career earning?
Cassius Clay was, like Roy jones JR, and Juan manuel Marquez, one of the greatest counter punchers out there and had lightning fast speed and good power. however Mike Tyson at his best could get inside and throw the most powerful punches boxing has ever seen.
basically if Foreman, and Liston could get inside and hurt him, and frazier could. then MIKE could, and he would knock him out easily.
Ali hands down, don't get me wrong Tyson was a beast but Ali is the best ever
prime tyson.... ali met two hard hitters in his life, frazier and foreman and he almost died.... and those two are too slow and punches like a pillow compared to tyson... tyson beat holmes who beat ali, ali cant outsmart prime tyson either, tysons speed and power will b a puzzle that will put ali under tremendous time pressure he wont b able to solve inside 6 rounds
me I win
Ali at his best vs Tyson at his Very best, i would have to say Tyson.
Ali has faced some of the best and hardest hitting heavyweights ever but he has never faced someone like Tyson. Tyson speed, VICIOUS POWERR and style would be to much for Ali imo, plus Tyson defense was really great when he was at his best.
Ali is going to get caught with Tysons speed and vicious power, sooner or later he is gonna have to face that. ALI HAD A GREAT CHIN and could take a punch but Tyson had BLINDING SPEED and can throw NASTY COMBINATIONS, can he take a combination of TYSONS POWER punches coming at him from all angles at blinding speed, i dont think so.
