Even with his inactivity, he fights the best opponents available. People use to complain about him fighting guys who were older. Now he is the old man taking on a 23 year who could be fighting at Middleweight and who is also the Super Welterweight champion. He has dominated just about every opponent he has been in the ring with and for this reason people accuse him of having weak opposition. He cannot help it that he is so much better than everyone else. Yet people think it is more impressive to knock someone out when it is much more difficult to out box someone the way he does. It takes a lot more skill to do what he does.

Mayweather couldn't care less about his "legend" or legacy. They don't call him Floyd "Legacy" Mayweather. His nickname is "Money". Fighters fight, mainly, for money. The money is better today than it was in the old days so there is less reason for them to fight as often. Lower level fighters MUST fight more often in order to make the money. They toss millions at Mayweather, so he doesn't need to fight as often, simple as that. Second reason is that no matter how advanced medicine may be, taking thousands of punches to the head causes damage and the fighters know that now.
Well the obvious: they were tougher back in previous eras and were true FIGHTERS not just athletes doing a job. Also, they get paid way more now so they don't have to fight as much as they used to.

I think he could have made himself more of a legend if he would have fought more. why don't fighters fight more often, if there are more medical methods that keep them safer today than in the days of Robinson or Ali.
