A prime Sugar ray robinson vs A prime Roberto Duran?

Power = Robinson

Speed = neither both almost the same speed

Chin = Robinson

Skill = Robinson

Conditioning = Slight edge to Duran

Robinson started out at lightweight and had more than 20 fights at that weight.He did not aspire for the world championship there, however. But he could have rightfully claimed being the unofficial world champion at 135 lbs.having defeated then reigning titlist Fritzie Zivic twice, the last by emphatic KO and the former champion Sammy Angott as well as many other rated fighters at lightweight. As there was still no junior welterweight class in his time, Robinson was essentially fighting alternately between the lightweight and welterweight class in his first 40 fights He even recorded his first win over archrival middleweight Jake laMotta during that period. I think a mythical fight between Robinson and Duran could be made at lightweight and I am favoring Sugar Ray to beat Duran by UD 15. I am now inclined to believe that Duran is said to be the greatest lightweight fighter ever only because Robinson did not fight there extensively as he did in the welters and middleweights and not win a world title there despite the fact that he very well could.

At welterweights? No mas, no match. prime Robinson stops prime Duran inside 8 rounds.

What weight? Remember that Duran's prime years were as a lightweight, while Robinson's was at welterweight. Assuming that they fought at 147, which is most logical, I'd give the edge to Sugar Ray because Duran had problems with moving and fleet-footed boxers (Leonard and to some extent, Hearns). He loved to brawl and I don't think Robinson would've obliged him. Leonard took his 1st career loss for making that mistake. If Robinson would dance around using his jab and firing combos from the distance, he'd escape with a UD.

Sugar ray robinson is the greatest fighter of all time. Only Joe Louis and Ali could make a case but most people including myself think its Robinson. Duran wouldnt stand a chance as Robinson would destroy any non heavyweight fighter no matter who.

Easy fight for Sugar Ray Robinson, Duran was knocked by many boxers like Hearns, Joppy, etc. Robinson is the best welterweight of all times, but I dont think that it would be a KO.

Robinson by unanimous decision in 15 rounds.

Duran was knocked out by Hoppy ..when Duran was 50 years,old..SRR would have beaten Duran..but Duran was the greatest lightweight ever...SRR was a naturally bigger man & the greatest P4P fighter ever.

at welterweight, robinson takes a close decision.
