60 year old starting boxing career - any advice?

anything is possible with hard work but the thing is age effects the amount of hard work we can give

think outside the box, learn what the trainers do, inspire the youth, and maybe we will be seeing you in 10 years as a world class trainer.

manny pacquaos phillipino trainer before he moved to the US never learned boxing, manny saw him as a friend on the street who was taking drugs and drinking so manny said " come to training and learn what the trainers do and maybe one day i'll let you coach me"

Haha stop playing! And to the guy who mentioned dewey bozella their stories arent even close! Dewey started boxing at 27. This guy is saying he started his first boxing lesson at 60. We see from kimbo slice who was knocking out homeless crips in his backyard on YouTube. Fighting on the street and fight on a professional level are two different things. Now I'm glad to see u working out and gaining respect in your gym. I know u r joking around because ur saying a two and o record would get u a title shot. If u r free man and u r doing something u enjoy the u r a winner in my book. Try to find someplace where they let u compete guys ur own age. I'm sure u its probably some young guys u could beat. But the day u fight one that has any skills u could get serously hurt.

Eeeesh. Retire?

You aren't going to get sanctioned at that age. You might feel young, but guys in peak fitness at half your age have been hurt bad before. Doesn't exactly bode well for you, but it's your life, fight unsanctioned if thats a dream of yours.

Dewey Bozella had a story similar to this, use him as an inspiration.

I'am 66 so I can't say much here!!!!! I just took up boxing and I think its great!

Sorry, just can't take a 60 year old boxer seriously.

I was 60 last week and decided to start a boxing career for my latter days. You may think I am a little old but when I approached the trainer and I told him about my love of hitting people and time in jail he changed his joking expression into a serious one. I reminded him although I maybe a lot older than many people, I have been hitting people for over 40 years so experience is on my side. With that I started my first lesson and have gained respect in the gym.

My issue is I really want to get into a proper boxing match but many people refuse because of my age. What I need is a break to knock out a few of the young lads as once I have K.O'd one or two of them I'll be on the road to my title. Any tips on how to be taken more seriously? Thanks
