As gritty as he was at cruiserweight, Holyfield has always had a few flaws. In 1950, Ezzard Charles defeated Joe Louis. While Joe was well past his prime, Ezzard was still at his best. There was nothing he couldn't do in the ring. Experts compared him to Sugar Ray Robinson and some even listed him above "The Great One".
This fight would be a war because Holyfield would push Ezzard. Lacking only a killer instinct, Ezzard would take a few rounds to warm to Holyfield's onslaught. However, when he does, it's Holyfield who finds himself in an up-hill battle. His Texas-sized heart gets him to the bell but he loses most of the later rounds.
Charles W 15.
Close one, but I feel that the 1950 version of Charles was more of a mature fighter than the 1987 version of Holyfield. Ezzard takes a UD over Evander by a 9-6, 10-5 score.
This is a close fight but I go with the real deal Evander Holyfield by unanimous decision. Evander is just a bit stronger than Ezzard.
hello..a good, interesting match....such a close one that it could well be one of those classics if actually a real contest...I would say that Charles wins either on points going to the distance..or by starting fast and furious and knocking down Holyfield within first 3 rounds.
I think Holyfield would have taken this one in a war of attrition, great match up but Evander would have been too much for Charles.
I'd go with Holyfield. For all of his skills, handspeed, footwork and ring craftsmanship, Holy's stronger, more athletic and has considerably better punch. He'd do enough to get the decision.
holyfield by split decision in a tough bout.
i pick holyfield by points but it might be a war
15 rounds and at cruiserweight. Both men would weigh in the neighborhhood of 184-187 lbs.
