Regardless ,he's getting in too big of a hurry ,he needs to take his time ,but i can see why he would want to fight Tony Thompson since he's an American that's making a mockery of british heavyweight prospects in their own back yard ,Hughie Tyson wants to defend his countries honor.
Lets see.... Hughie Fury has always been the more skillful of the two cousins, he is making good progress, and has achieved a lot in his short pro career so far...
I have always been a firm believer that a boxer needs to learn his trade within the first 15 fights. By that I mean he should have fairly easy opponents, that gradually raise the bar as his early career gets under way.
So far, Hughie Fury has done everything asked of him... He now needs to start getting some rounds under his belt, do the distance with some credible opponents, learn how to box when tiredness kicks in... He needs to be able to dig deep when the fatigue is weighing heavily on his shoulders...
Ok... He is full of confidence - And so he should be... But lets not forget... His confidence has come from a series of bog standard opposition, nothing too dangerous.
Hughie's body has not fully matured yet... His back / shoulders are quite slender for a heavyweight.. He appears frail in comparison to Tyson Fried Brains
To even consider stepping into the ring with Thompson is madness... Thompson ain't no four round journey man looking to make a few bucks after work... He didn't get a top five rating for being pretty, or talking a good fight - He got there on merit.
However... Given that the entire Fury clan are akin to real life looney tunes, there is a chance that this is all just hype to get more exposure for the Haye vs Fury fight??
I honestly can't see any manager / trainer putting a good young prospect in with a top heavyweight contender at such an early stage of their careers..... Although we are talking the Fury's here!
Answer - Young Fury would be like a sacrificial lamb to the slaughter should he take on Thompson.
this is a bad idea! Hughie wants to set the record for the youngest man to ever win a world title. Going up against veterans like Tony Thompson this early is a big mistake.
I've watched some early videos of Hughie Fury, and he doesn't seem like he has power or a lot of skill. I do wish him luck though.
From what I've seen of the younger Fury cousin. He is faster than tyson, he is fitter than tyson, he is as big as tyson, he has better technique than tyson, and I honestly think he hits harder than tyson, his jab straight right combo is devestating. All he needs is experience, which win or lose against Thompson it is great experience.
It may be to soon but if he does pull of a shock which is possible he should be pushing a top 10 ranking, and British, commonwealth an European titles.
His cousin is already proven to be the greatest fighter of all time. The Klitschkos duck him, Velasquez (MMA) ducks him, Haye is only fighting him for a pay day. He comes from a LONG list of great enormously successful fighters. If Hughie is ANYTHING like Tyson, nobody will ever beat him.
Wow if Hughie wins he could get a shot with maybe Alexander povetkin
Fury's opponents up until this point have a combined record of 56-151-14.
Thompson is waaay too big of a step up for this kid. I give him props for having the balls to do it, but it's a very bad move IMO.
it seems that hughie who has only been a pro for 4 MONTHS has offered thompson a big purse to fight him .
Surely it's to soon for young Fury(tyson's cousin) . can Hughie beat a top 5 fighter so young ?
what do you think .
