100 years from now, what will boxing look like?

Rich - I hope your ******* wrong lol but it does seem probable that could happen.

The way I see it if all contact sports are not banned and as long as non combat sports don't end in ties somehow boxing survives the new age or soccer mom attack then it will look as different stylistically as say Floyd Mayweather looks compared to John L Sullivan.

People looking for the next Mike Tyson will likely continue to be disappointed, that style has grown old and has had a blue print written for it. It seems the best fighters today are starting to feint more, Mayweather and especially Pacquiao use feints a lot, feints are very important all the greats have used feints Jones Jr, DeLaHoya, Ali, Robinson, Leonard and its being used more and more.

In the future I see boxing is more of a chess match, the brawlers are out completely, the fights them selves will see less action with both fighters feinting looking for their chance to land, it will be a counter punchers game of feints and position. I think we are seeing that now.

As for the rest of the sport, I think eventually all these fighters turned promoters happens more and more and the don kings and arums are pushed out, and career business strategist like Al Haymen become the standard with the fighters holding the power over their own career. I see reform in something of a fighters union and a national body governing the whole sport with elections every 4 years. A global body made up like the UN with representatives from different countries which will give out titles. I think we will eventually have one world champion in each division.

We tend to think the trend in the world is towards safety but we could go the opposite way just as easily and sports could become more violent. China, Japan, India,Spain and Russia all enjoy proudly the violence of their sports, and like Rome when the US falls it will need a distraction, I'm not saying they will throw people to the Lions but blood sports could re surge.

It will be more theatrical, kind of like the WWE.

We will have more paper championships and safer rules governing the sport, the whole game may change because of this just like the whole game has changed in the last 100 years [bareknuckle fighting techniques are different from 8oz glove techniques].

Global gdp per capita is rising thus the quality of boxers will probably continue to drop [great fighters come from poverty, not wealth]. Fighters will be less active because, thanks to theatrics, ppv & promotions; they won't need to bust their *** as much [thus they won't have the same kind of experience].

Heavyweights will likely get a little bigger but not much more. More heavyweights will likely look like this; http://vi.sualize.us/primo_carnera_train...

For the record; that guy was 270lbs of muscle, the IMO underrated Primo Carnera

In a hundred years ,boxing won't be because we as human beings will self destruct by that point due to greedy politicians ,the downfall of the United States ,the rise of Islam radicals and the coming of Christ.

If boxing is not already banned possibly the gloves will be bigger and head guards will be worn, first knock down is the winner and accelerometers will be used to gauge the amount of force absorbed by a fighter and if damage exceeds a certain amount the ref will stop it.

There will be a giant gold statue of the great Adrien Broner outside of Madison Square Garden.

In the yeah 2113, boxing will be out as well as many thangs not of technology?

Are you Mickey from Rocky?
