Your top 20 favorite boxers of all time?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Hey Johnnie! Alright, here it goes. There are so many fighters I love and appreciate and a top 20 is so difficult to make. The order often changes but here it goes.

1. Sugar Ray Robinson. He is my most favorite fighter of all time, and the greatest of all time in my opinion. He was nearly a perfect fighter. He had everything from speed, power, chin, balance, boxing skills, brawling skills, you name it.

2. Muhammad Ali. He was exciting in and out of the ring, and one of the big reasons boxing is what it is.

3. Sugar Ray Leonard. He was truly my first favorite fighter ever as a child. Nowadays, kids love Pacquiao and Mayweather and some are absolutely crazy about them. I was absolutely crazy about Leonard back in the 80's. I thought he was the best of all time back then!

4. Wilfred Benitez. Him and Leonard were my childhood favorites. I loved Benitez and his defensive skills, and win or lose, I always loved him.

5, Joe Louis. Very humble man, a boxing gentleman. But not in the ring. His power was amazing and his techniques were very correct.

6. Michael Spinks. Olympic gold medalist, and also one of my childhood favorites.

7. Mike Tyson. Now I'm not usually a huge fan of punchers, but this dude was something special when I first saw him.

8. Prince Naseem Hamed. Very exciting in and out of the ring! Nuff said.

9. Hector Camacho. Like Hamed, very exciting as well.

10. Roy Jones Jr. In his prime, he was nearly unbeatable. I am more of a Roy Jones Jr. fan than any fighter today.

11. Felix Trinidad. I loved Trinidad always. 40-0 til losing to Bernard Hopkins.

12. Rocky Marciano. I originally used to criticize Marciano, because I thought all his opponents were passed his best. If you think about it, only Louis was. Jersey Joe Walcott was World Heavyweight champion. Roland La Starza was 37-0. Ezzard Charles had won 11 of 13 fights before Marciano, and fought 5 more years after losing to him. Don Cockell was 205 pounds, a much bigger man that defeated many top Heavyweights. Archie Moore was one of the best old champions of all time! Age doesn't define prime, just ask Bernard Hopkins. Back to Marciano. He showed his great heart every time, and no matter how many times he got knocked down, he got back up, and that's what really matters most.

13. Chris John. Among active fighters, I can say John is my favorite fighter, even over Mayweather and Pacquiao. He is very skilled, and has a win over living legend Juan Manuel Marquez (who turned 40 today.)

14. Nonito Donaire. Even though he fell short against Rigondeaux, I will always root for my fellow countryman, and that's not the only reasons why. He is one of the best counterpunchers in the game still in my opinion, and will come back and I'm sure of it.

15. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Surely the best today, P4P, no doubt about it. 44-0, nuff said.

16. Bernard Hopkins. He gets better with age! I wouldn't be surprised if he was champion at 50! I ain't even 45 yet, and Hopkins is in way better shape than me!

17. Andre Ward. He is the future of boxing. Similar to BHop in my opinion, except his attitude is much better.

18. Manny Pacquiao. There are some fighters I finally admit to being a fan of after crashing defeat, and Pacquiao is one of them. Since I am from the Phillipines, I've always supported Manny and rooted for him for each of his fights, even against one of my favorites in Barrera. But it isn't til recently I was very saddened seeing him knocked out badly, and I hope he'll come back soon. In 10 years or so, we'll look back and say "what a legend".

19. Miguel Cotto. Another fighter I became a fan of after defeat. I was rooting for him against Trout, and he shockingly got beat. I hope he'll come back strong. He's a HOFer in my book.

20. Wladimir Klitschko. The best Heavyweight right now, hands down. Intelligence in and out the ring.

Not the best of all time, your favorite. Fighters that you would root for no matter what. This is your opinion. Their should be no criticism towards anyones lists. Give me a list of fighters you think are awesome you don't have to be a front runner.

My top 3 just ex.

1. Mike Tyson- He was so exciting to watch; raw power, bad mouth, mean S.O.B. He was unstoppable up until Don King and the thugs in his corner began to wear on him. Tyson fan for life.

2. Earnie Shavers- His heavy hands, and big heart he was always a threat.

3. Marvin Hagler- He was a brawler and a boxer. He could go the distance with anyone and he hit like a mule.
