We are planning a college graduation party for myself. Since I have been studying Elementary Education and History, I was thinking about doing a country school theme graduation party. We were thinking of wrapping books in brown paper with town, making wooden apples, mason jars with wild flowers, burlap, lace, and rustic looking candles. I would like to use white for the guest tables, unless I can find cheap country floral print fabric instead. We are doing a family table, almost like a head table, so I'm debating if I should do it in white and do a bunch of burlap and tulle, or go with a printed material. The party will be in early May, so I'm looking for light colors.
I forgot to mention that I will also be throwing in chalkboards and making cupcakes. We are planning for an evening reception with cocktails, dinner being served at five, and then a dance. There may be a chance that we may do it during the early afternoon but that is a small chance! My husband is a true craftsman so we can bring in many "frontier" elements from early country school into the party.
So my question is: Would this look to much like a wedding?
Thank you all!
