There are lots of rated fighters and a few champions who would not have even be able to break into the top ten contenders during the WBA/WBC era some thirty years ago. That's low the level and quality of competition in most weight classes has dropped. Fighters are having easier time winning titles in various weight classes not only because of the drop in level and dilution of talent but also due to the proliferation of the alphabet soup organizations ( aside from the WBA and WBC, there's IBF, WBO, WBF, IBO etc..etc... ad nauseum).
For example, I could not imagine the likes of Paulie Malignaggi, and Robert Guerrero, holding a WBA or WBC title at 147 lbs. in the early 80s.
HA get real kid there has been nothing but good fights this year with the exception of Donaire Rigo which was pretty boring. This year has been loaded with good fights. Watch the bradley Ruslan fight and tell me that was not entertaining.
boxing has evolved now - and in the past you had your Tyson's but the thing is, they are taught the defensive side of things better at the top level and so what happens is two good fighters will negate each other until one makes the mistake or rushes in carelessly.
actually feck all has changed in boxing - perhaps in its early years it was more enjoyable to watch , before the Ali times ....lets go back to the Dempsey era.
