But then there are ring warriors who make better use of the gray matter between their ears. I for one appreciate these master boxers.
I think it's just a matter of fans tempering their primal instinct whenever these types fight one another or are pitted against a puncher unless the latter is not only lethal not competent enough to really make a go at it.
Trouble is fans have expectations usually helped formed by media, hype or not, and the fighter's reputation, deserved or not. And when the fight does not go the way they expect in most cases a puncher failing to score a knockout or even a knockdown, or even seriously hurting the boxer and in the process loses to the boxer, this sort of fans are generally disappointed. But that's more their own doing.
I for one have already consigned myself to seeing a fight going the distance whenever competent top boxers fight each other or meet a puncher. Of course, I would also be delighted to be treated to a surprise knockout or two, especially if the boxer is the one delivering it.
I wouldn't call them stupid fans, casual fans is more like it. Every sport is trying to gain more casual fans it's big business. It's the same with football if they watch a low scoring game they'll change the game or leave.
UFC is boringly queer. Some peeps want that fast violence excitement fist fight type fight. Most ppl don't pay to see dancing and stinging once in a while. They want blood and violence and heat, like Barerra vs Morales, or Gatti Ward, or Arce Vazquez Jr, or Pac Marquez. Thats what they feel is worth their money, those fights made you stay at the edge of your seat.
Its ok to run inside the ring if its his style. But Fraud never enters the ring against an opponent who's capable of beating him. Is that still called "not getting hit"? Well yeah he won't get hit really, but he ain't hitting no one too.
Lack of knowledge of the fight game. It's not all about watching fights, but knowing its history, the rules, the old fighters, etc.
I agree ,there is a difference between "running" and effective movement which is what Erislandy Lara displayed.
The objective of boxing is to hit and not be hit.
at least they are watching boxing and supporting it
yes it is a sport of skill. But it is the skill of fighting within the boundaries of boxing
there are more and more serious injuries in American football, and I doubt either sport determines the mentality of the fans.
Whether someone is stupid or smart does not affect the sports they watch.
boxing has become a declining sport with declining talent any young boxing fan has not seen a great fighter not many left so they pretend these bums or average fighters are great
trust me, espn and fox sports didnt call him a coward just bc of style
what i mean is there are so many fans who just want to see a slugfest and guys beating each others face in. They always say guys like mayweather and lara run, well what are they supposed to do? Just let the other guy hit them? The objective in boxing is to hit the other guy more than he hits you, and that is exactly what those guys do. Mayweather especially is hated on too much for his style, watching him fight should be appreciated by us. It seems like boxing "fans" think a guy is a coward if he doesn't just stand there and let the other guy hit him in the face, and just want a brawl. If they want that just go watch ufc or a worldstar fight comp.
