Who's the greatest (retired) undefeated boxer of all time?

1. Joe Calzaghe

2. Rocky Marciano

3. Ricardo Lopez

Rocky Marciano is the greatest.

Sure; Rocky only had 6 title fights, but those 6 title fights he was the undisputed champion.

Joe Calzaghe, Floyd Mayweather, Young Mitchell, Jack McAuliffe, Jimmy Barry, Laszlo Papp, Terry Marsh, Ji Won Kim and Sven Ottke were NEVER undisputed champions in any given division.

Only Ricardo Lopez was undisputed for some time.

I would have to go with Joe Calzaghe, were Marciano only had 6 title fights in a poor era for heavyweights, calzaghe had over 20 title fights in a division that was stacked. Also Marciano retired at only 31 and Calzaghe was still beating the best when he was approaching 40.

I noticed when you were naming some of the active undefeated fighters at the beginning of your question, you quite glaringly omitted the P4P king, was this deliberate?

Anyway, I suppose Marciano gets the nod, there are still probably 1 or 2 other fighters between him and Calzaghe if I'm honest though Calzaghe was a great champion too imo

Only Rocky Marciano.

Have to say Marciano.

Calzaghe is a prime case of a well managed career.

He waited till Jones and Hopkins were finished to fight them and if he was the man he made himself out, he would have just gone to Germany and knocked Ottke out.

I believe he would have been able to, but he never took the gamble to prove himself thee champ at 168.

At least Marciano was undisputed champ at his weight in his day.

Ricardo Lopez

Rocky

Finito Lopez

Rocky Marciano. His record was amazing. 49-0-0-43. He knocked out most of his opponents (88%).

Stan

I say retired because there are so many active undefeated champs at the moment such as GGG, Kovalev, Danny Garcia, Andre Ward, Scott Quigg just to name a few, so let's focus on the sure undefeated champs here.

I am between Joe Calzaghe and Rocky Marciano. I would say Ricardo Lopez is a candidate too, but I can't name a single boxer the man beat, plus he fought in an insignificant weight division.

On the other hand Rocky delivered some of the greatest KO's in history while destroying the likes of Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott x2, Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles x 2.

When it comes to Joe Calzaghe, he is the greatest super middleweight ever and destroyed with ease undefeated world champs such as Lacy, Kessler, he retired Eubank and schooled Hopkins and Jones in the US. Tough decision.

Marciano, hands down!
