Golovkin seems the best. Hes patient and doesnt walk into punches, doesnt over commit leaving himself open for counters and he closes the distance with his jab better than anyone Ive seen.
Ruslan is top 5 no doubt about it, he isnt as good defensively as GGG but he does fight low and crouches using the Tyson pick a boo style making the shorter man a smaller target. U know Matthysse is one of the best at pressuring fighters who try to box, he is defensively responsible and his offense is unpredictable. Santa Cruz is a good inside fighter but he cant pressure. If a fighter chooses to box, its hard for him to close the distance unlike others who impose there game.
The second best behind GGG is Roman "Choclatito" Gonzalez, this guy is the closest thing to Tyson. Hes the very best at slipping punches while cutting the distance and is one of the best combination punchers in boxing. Goes to the body and to the head with fluid combos like Tyson, and uses his short reach to his advantage like Tyson. He has a monstrous KO ratio for his division
I am tempted to say Golovkin because I admire his professional coolness in grinding down the opponent which reminds me of the original Dinamita, Wilfredo Gomez of Puerto Rico who would send his opponents tottering but would take his time like a demolition man studying the effect of his work and determining where to put more explosives to get the job done right and cleanly.
But then again, Golovkin has yet to test himself against more elite fighters in and around his division. So does Sergei Kovalev.
I therefore say, it's Roman Chocolatito Gonzales who has been fighting against and beating better quality foes in and around the flyweights.
If not for his loss to Brian Viloria, I would also go for Giovanni Segura.
No question, Roman Gonzalez. He'll grind anyone down with his pressure. His fight against Estrada was a masterclass on how to grind down an opponent with relentless pressure.
There's a lot of guys around at the moment that could top that table..
For me - It has to be Ruslan Provodnikov... I find him relentless.
I wouldn't argue too much with the other answers either..
i like kovalev as well as GGG
I'd assume that most people would be picking out of GGG, Provo and Leo Santa Cruz. For me it's Golovkin, though Provo is more tested and proven than him in terms of competition.
