Since winning his first world championship at junior lightweight (WBO) in 1994 by TKO 10 over Jimmy Bredahl, ODLH for most part of the remainder of his career fought only top rated and named fighters including fellow champions as Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Jessie James Leija,Genaro Hernandez, Darryl Tyson, Wilfredo Rivera Julio Cesar Chavez ( twice), Miguel Angel Gonzales, Pernell Whitaker, Hector Macho Camacho, Ike Quartey, Oba Carr, Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley (twice), Fernando Vargas(twice) , Javier Castellejo,Yori Boy Campas, Felix Sturm, Bernard Hopkins, Steve Forbes, Ricardo Mayorga, ,Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
Among the new upcoming crop of fighters, I am impressed with the unbeaten Nicaraguan Roman Gonzales who has already faced and beaten mostly by KO/TKO a number of former and future world champions as Yutaka Niida, Katsunari Takayama, Manuel Vargas, Omar Soto, Ramon Garcia Hirales, Juan Francisco Estrada, and Francisco Rodriguez , He is aiming to continue the streak and add a third world title to his collection against another highly touted champion, Akira Yaegashi this September.
I believe Oscar fought some of these past their prime the 2 fights with Chavez quickly come to mind. Also I thought the Whitaker and Quartey fights could have been draws.
You answered your own question. If you're talking about fighters of the past or current era, no one fought more top fighters than Oscar de la Hoya. I'll even go back as far as the tail end of Roberto Duran's career. Only Duran fought better competition.
Thank you for giving Oscar his props/
People on here speak so poorly of him for no reason whatsoever.
If their criminal idol Mayweather Jr. fought Oscar's resume he would have lost a ton of fights by now.
