Go bowling. It's fun, and everyone gets to participate. You can also check out announcements in the newspapers or yellow pages if there will be events near your place, like a comic book convention, an art exhibit, or a concert at the park. Also, if you and your friends are up for a scavenger hunt, forget the mall and see if there are "white elephant" sales around your area, where just about anyone could have donated any odd items.

If you want to go to the beach, maybe you could spend the day there and then go out to dinner or do something else that night.
