Please hold this question a little while as I will answer it tomorrow with details. Tyler is correct but there was a great fight between Joe Jeanette and Sam McVey that was also a slugfest with lots of knockdowns and the longest bout in modern boxing history going 50 rounds in APRIL 17.1909. Jeanette won by 50th round TKO as McVey couldn't come out though he had knocked Jeanette down 27 times and on the verge of knocking him out before Jeanette came back starting after the 40th round and knocking McVey down 11 times and 7 in the 42nd round alone. This weas an unbelievable amount of endurance and courage from both men.
The record in a fight is 51 between battling Nelson and Cristy Williams/guy who was knocked down 42 times to Nelson's 9 Here it is official on boxrec.com http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_i...

Best I can think of is Dempsey vs Firpo. 11 KD's in 2 rounds. Dempsey vs Willard had a lot too.
I know of Vic Toweel scoring the most knockdown in a title fight. A record of 14 times vs Sullivan in the 50's. But what bout actually had the most number of knockdowns?
