What is the Regulator Vent on BBQ?

The regulator is the (usually) circular aluminum device at the end of the hose that connects to the fuel cylinder. On this device there will be an opening on the circumference of the circular part that probably has a small screen on it. The regulator should be connected to the cylinder so that this vent is pointing DOWN.

This vent allows the regulator diaphragm to move up and down without restriction. This vent is also there to allow any condensation that forms on (or in) the regulator to escape. This is so that ice does not form inside the regulator and damage the diaphragm in sub-zero temperatures.

So I just put together my new BBQ but on the propane tank it says when it is connectted to make sure that the regulator vent is not facing upwards, it has no picture or anything that shows me what it is talking about. So could someone please explain this? What does it look like, where is it located ect
