What is boxing all about?

Boxing is about hitting without being hit. The aim is to hit someone and not to be hit back. You use your whole body in a punch, if its just your arms you won't generate enough power to knock someone out. Just wear shorts and a top nothing fancy to training, you won't get bigger off boxing it teaches you to fight and to be able to fight at your best but not to get big, to get big is bodybuilding but you may get 'bigger' by eating excess calories as much as you can per day. Everyone's different and it could take 6 months to 3 years just to get the basics down and then every year you learn more and become better that's why most boxers have trained for over 10 years to get their skills to full potential. Its very hard, so don't expect to be in ye comfort zone you might throw up or feel like you just want to sleep halfway threw session, just carry on your body adapts.

In boxing males wear boxing shorts, boxing gloves and something like a rhobe. They also wear teeth guards, so that it can protect their teeths. Those are gears to wear in the ring when boxing your opponent. You have to knock that person out before you get knock out. When the referree knows your down, he will count to 10 and then the match will be over with. Sometimes boxers throw in a towel, I guess that means they quit or forfeit or whatever.

True warriors, A skill of will and determination, Mixed with pride and powerful survivalist. Boxing is a great skill, Like dancing, I believe you have to be born with them both. To me, That's what boxing is all about...

Espn ranked boxing as the toughest sport....surpassing wrestling and american football.....its probably the hardest sport you can chose to participate in

Punch Head body, swerve duck absorb, jab hook uppercut, clinch ref break, run corner win

I'm 14, 5'11 and 135 pounds. I'm looking to bulk up and learn how to defend myself if I ever need to. Could someone tell me a bit about boxing? Are your feet used or only arms? What gear would I have to wear and how long would it take to get bigger and learn how to fight well? Also how hard is it?
