If Alvarez hasn't opened some eyes by now he is only going to get better. His size, exceptional defense, deceptive speed, his ability to take a punch and being able to deliver some of the hardest punches in his division. The way he shoulder rolled and out boxed probably the best boxer in or around his weight class in Trout. And let's not forget that at 22 years old, and the little glimpses of vulnerability that Mayweather has been showing for a while now. I think Alvarez would beat Mayweather as easily as he did Trout. But Trout has an even better chin than Mayweather.
I've never seen Trout hurt like I have Mayweather against Mosely. And we have all seen Floyd struggle more than once to get his win.
Alvarez is the biggest threat to Mayweather. But don't expect to see this match up anytime soon.

To those saying Martinez and Pacquiao...
A) Martinez should not be in the conversation for a guy who started at Super Featherweight. Martinez should be fighting Golovkin, Pirog, or Quillin.
B) Pacquiao got knocked out because Marquez is a awesome counter puncher. Who counters better and faster than Marquez? Floyd Mayweather. And since he is still with Top Rank we will never see it.
Paquiao, Martinez or Alvarez. I doubt Alvarez is, I would want Mayweather to win against him anyways. But, if he fight the other two I'm rooting for them. If Marquez can KO a guy who beat him twice, why can't he do the same with Mayweather?
Sergio Martinez would have a chance, the size difference might give Floyd problems, also Canaleo Alverez would have a punchers chance, power is always an equalizer.
Amir Khan, Manny Pacquaio and Adrien Broner. Those are the only fighters who could match Floyd with speed. The last time Floyd Mayweather fought somebody with equal hand speed (Zab Judah) it was full of controversy, he was almost dropped, and won because he pulled away late as Zab's endurance let him down.
