Adrien Broner - Kinda love to hate this guy. Maidana 'solved' the problem.
Amir Khan - People have got carried away with the glass jaw hype... Time will prove he is an exceptional boxer.
Wladimir Klitschko - Boring... But very clever. You need to be a real boxing fan to appreciate what he is doing in the ring.
Danny Garcia - Love the guy, hate the Father, kinda makes me root for Garcia's opponent, just to shut his Father up..
Mayweather - A thinker in the ring... You have to watch him closely... Poetry in motion..
Tyson Fury - Biggest hype job in heavyweight boxing... His mouth writes checks his body can't cash!
Ricky Burns - Genuine guy... No frills, no hype, what you see, is what you get..
Maidana - One of the very few boxers that fears absolutely nobody..
There are many quantities that attract people to certain boxers. All of the above, and countless more, would gain my full span of attention if they were fighting tonight... Some I would like to see beaten, others, I want to win... But when all is said and done, I have a massive amount of respect for all boxers, each and everyone of them.
Interesting answers. I was thinking more along the lines of things like what Bundini touched on. I tend to like fighters who are confident, but not arrogant. I like fighters who struggle through adversity and never give up. I favor Mexican fighters because that is my culture, followed by Latin American fighters, then Fighters from the United States because that is where I live. It isn't always that way. I may strongly dislike a particular Mexican fighter, though I can't think of one off the top of my head. I have said before that I am not a fan of "Money" Mayweather, though I was a fan up to the lead in to the De La Hoya fight. His use of WWE type promotion as the villain was very profitable for him, but I think it did not help the sport. I can't find myself ever rooting for him to win. Still, I cannot deny that he is one of, if not the best pure boxer in the last 20 years.
I hated to see Sergio Martinez go out like he did against Cotto because he is truly one of the nice/classy boxers in and outside the ring. His anti-bullying advocacy endeared him to me and he was my favorite fighter in the last 5 years.
I admire and support skills and humbleness.arrogance and cherry picking are the 2 worst qualities a boxer can have.
i think GGG is the epitome of awesome skills and humbleness and that's why he's my favorite fighter
Broner is the opposite and probably the guy that i and most others dislike the most.
Mayweather is cherrypicker/very aggogent but his undeniable skills and his unbeaten record are the things which keep me watching him
Dislikes:
The Cuban government for denying professional boxing Tefelio Stevenson and Felix Savon.
Mike Tyson for being a thug rapist cannibal who mugged little old ladies and ended his career by quitting on his stool instead of fighting.
Antonio Margarito for loading his gloves and endangering elite fighters careers and lives.
Arthur Abraham for hitting Andre Dirrell while Dirrell was sitting in a puddle of water Abraham's corner intentionally spilled in the ring to slow Dirrell down.
Panama Lewis for the criminality of his actions, drug propagation and general evilness.
Likes:
Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis for the leadership they showed outside the ring and the wars they fought in the ring.
Hagler, Hearns, Leonard and Duran for the era they gave us.
George Foreman and Bernard Hopkins for their battle with Father Time.
Alexis Arguello and Evander Holyfield for the class they brought to boxing.
Joe Frazier's left hook, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.'s will to win, Sugar Ray Robinson's speed and grace and George Chuvalo's chin.
I dislike Mayweather because he is a cherry picker.
Bonus: No. There are several boxers I don't like but I still respect their talent.
Dislike: Mayweather for denying us fans the megafight
Like: Ali truly a legend
Lack of mental toughness and fighting heart.
We all have reactions to boxers and become fans, enemies, and/or begrudging respecters of certain ones. I just want to have a hopefully mature and respectful dialogue about what makes you/others have the reactions you have. Notably, there are rivalries between Pacquiao & Mayweather, Golovkin & anyone he hasn't faced at 160-8, Khan, Broner, and others.
Bonus: Is it impossible for you to see the talent/qualities in the rival of your favorite fighter?
