Experience yoga practioners are generally pretty flexible. I would think if you took gymnastics, you would be expected to do flips and gymnastics moves as well.
Yoga and gymnastics would both improve flexibility. Obviously if you started a gymnastics class you would be learning other skills like handstands, cartwheels and forward rolls as well as flexibility moves like splits and bridge. You can improve your flexibility a lot training at home with simple equipment such as a mat and yoga blocks too. You should do some dynamic stretching to get warmed up before working your static stretches and you should hold those for at least thirty seconds, longer is better. It can be good to join a class because it helps keep you motivated and teaches how to do different stretches with good form, which is really important to avoid injury. If you really want to see improvements though you can't beat frequency so the best solution is to join a class and to work on your stretching at home on days when you don't have a class.
Try a few of the yoga classes. Stretching and flexibility is it's main menu.
I took gymnastics and competitive cheer, and dance. I can do a needle, splits, scorpion ETC. You can pull it off it takes 3 weeks
I am 19 years old and I am not flexible at all. Although a lot will say it's too late now to be more flexible, I think anyone can do anything with dedication. I am trying to look for classes to be flexible, I just don't know what they're called. Is it gymnastics? By flexible I just mean the basics, like the splits for example. I don't want to be a professional. I would really appreciate if you tell me what classes I need to look for. Thanks!(:
