Stryofoam....just poke the stick in and it will stand up. You can cut stryofoam...or buy Stryofoam balls and cut them in 1/2 and make 2 place settings. You can also paint the Stryofoam ....that you can google for the best paint for tablescapes, or food safe. DesignMasters has a spray paint for Stryofoam but I don't know if it is Food Safe.

Styrofoam. You could also set a piece in the bottom of a shot glass and stand you cake in that.

I'm looking for an idea. Hostess for a party and I'm planning to make marshmallow "Peeps" on a straw for each place setting. What can I stick the straw into to hold it up straight?

Researching the web, I just keep coming up with lollipop or cake pop holders for the entire party. I just want 'one' in front of each seat standing up.
