James Buster Douglas
Evander Holyfield
Lennox Lewis
Danny Williams
Kevin McBride
Great question. Naturally it boils down to Douglas and Holyfield. Tyson was barely in the fight against Lewis and it wasn't difficult to tell he was more than a bit scared. He was long past finished after that.
.
The interesting thing about both the Holyfield and Douglas fights is that neither was expected to beat Tyson. As near as I can recall, I have to split this right down the middle.
.
The Holyfield fight was more impressive but the Douglas ending was more impressive. Here's how.
.
Holyfield Beat Tyson Up. He didn't just box him. He pushed, shoved, bumped, butted, mauled and did everything else, bullying Tyson in every conceivable way. Evander broke Tyson's spirit.
.
However, The Douglas ending was more impressive because Tyson was knocked off his feet in such a devastating way. He never saw that uppercut that jarred his neck. Buster had all day to throw it because Tyson was blind and tired. The only thing more surprising than his going down is that he got up, even though he couldn't continue.
I say Buster Douglas because it was against prime Mike Tyson. Even before the knockout, Douglas was pretty impressive with his jab and boxing skills.
I say Holyfield. Tyson already said he was not focused on Buster Douglas for their fight. Wasn't training, out of shape, partying, etc...Holyfield straight manhandled Tyson to the point where he got frustrated. Well we know what happened from there..lol
I guess you're too young because until Tyson's first lost to Douglas the world, including me, was convinced that Tyson would never lose until age caught up with him. The Douglas fight was maybe the biggest shocker in boxing EVER,
James Baster Douglas ( was vs prime Tyson )
Lewis made Tyson eat his words after he beat him to a bloody pulp. Mike threatened to beat his family but later said he got his but handed to him in the post fight interview. It was a classic moment but Tyson fans are finding excuses until this day.
Buster Douglas in my opinion
Evander Holyfield - because Mike was on a Top when he lost
Lewis flat out dominated him, but no one faced a prime Tyson.
Douglas for sure. Too many reasons why.
Which boxer impressed you the most by defeating Mike Tyson?
James Buster Douglas
Evander Holyfield
Lennox Lewis
Danny Williams
Kevin McBride
