Weidman has to be the favorite in this fight.
That does not mean that Silva can not win, but he is the underdog this time.
Silva is going to be ready for him this time. We all know that Silva probably learned his lesson of showboating and acting crazy . He knows with somebody like Weidman he can lose. Big time. Like the last time they fought.
I think Silva will come out using all his MMA arsenal and try to end it quick. It is entirely possible. But Weidman also has good power, a good chin and is Very capable of beating Silva . Especially if it goes more than 3 rounds.
I want Weidman to win. Silva already had his time of glory. Let the younger man have a chance.
I say it's 50-50.
People always remember the ending of their first fight, not what happened before it.
In the first round, Weidman got Silva down and POUNDED on him. He was landing legit, hard ground and pound. Anderson took it, but it was a dominate round for Chris.
In the second, Anderson did a good job stuffing the takedown. He was starting to pick Weidman apart on the feet, and getting into a rhythm, then he decided to clown and got lit up.
Like I said, I think this is a toss up. Weidman shouldn't get overconfident with his stand up. It's obviously good, he's got pop and solid boxing, but that's Anderson's territory.
If Anderson doesn't f*ck around, then the gap in their stand up abilities is something Chris can't overcome IMO.
If Weidman takes Anderson down though, it'll most likely look like the first round of their first fight. This isn't Chael Sonnen, the G&P that Weidman was landing is fight ending type stuff.
So basically this is gonna come down to how well Anderson can stop the takedown. I think he can, but I have a hard time seeing him do it on a consistent basis.
I'll take Anderson by knockout. I'm not confident in picking this fight, but he's my boy and so I gotta go with him.
I hope that weidman knocks a serious minded silva out and then hits him several times while he is out before the ref puts a stop to it.If silva decides to clown around then I hope weidman pulls silvas mouthgard out while on the ground and knocks all of silvas teeth out on his way to a bloody tko by way of stoppage.
In the commercial promoting this match mike goldberg states that the knock out of silva by weidman doesn't take away from the greatness of silva... ... ...
HUH?
No. 1
he is no longer undefeated.
No. 2
It has shown what a typical disrespectful douche bag clown he is in the cage, especially against fighters like weidman.
If you act like a broner in the ring then you deserve to get bonered like a broner.
I think he has a good chance, he is a very good wrestler with good boxing and with good power. I think he will use his wrestling more in the next fight, but Silva can win as long as he fights with conviction and use his muay-thai and knees to break Weidman down.
I think Weidman wins the rematch via UD.
