For our shower we had fortune cookies made as snacks for the event. They were actually done in pink to announce we were having a girl and everyone thought it was a great idea. The company actually mentioned it in a blog here: http://www.custom-fortune-cookies.com/ba...

Other than that I'd say the typical finger food, dips etc. It's really all about the cake anyway.

Finger foods are perfect for a baby shower! You don't need to serve a gourmet, buffet style meal. Appetizer like foods are fine for the event because it should be about celebrating the arrival of a baby, not feasting on a dinner. I would suggest any of the things listed below.

tortilla roll ups (with deli meats and cheeses)

croissant sandwiches (have ham, chicken, tuna, or egg salad)

deviled or pickled eggs

vegetable tray with ranch dressing

fruit salad or fresh fruit tray with yogurt dipping sauce

tortilla chips with cheese spread or salsa

pretzel rods with honey mustard

crackers with cream cheese ball (dried beef balls are a family favorite!)

macaroni, potato, or pasta salad

trail mix

cupcakes (make them blue or pink, according to your baby's gender)

party mints (the pastel colored ones that you can buy in most grocery stores)

lightly buttered popcorn

mini muffins or donuts

fruit filled strudel bites or danishes

home made bread or rolls
