Was Mike Tyson afraid of fighting George Foreman?

I like everyone else mentioned do not think he feared George. I do believe style wise however this would have been a bad matchup for Tyson. He would be coming right in at George. He in 1990 was not the fighter he was in the mid 80s. George could punch and this could trouble Tyson. He is much bigger and stronger than Tyson. He also proved in his second career he could go 12 hard solid rounds. I believe the theory that styles make fights and this would be a bad match up for Tyson. I do not believe however that Tyson was afraid of Foreman.

Yes, that is why "Team Tyson" ducked Big George. Same reason they ducked Tua, Moorer, Mercer; Morrison, Bowe, Ibeabuchi, Witherspoon and even Eric Esch. Anybody who could hit back with power was ducked. But all people remember is the KO highlight reel created by "Team Tyson" and Don. It seems they don't even remember the two beatings Holyfield gave Mike or the KO's Tyson suffered at the hands of Lewis or Douglas. All anyone remembers is all those tomato cans getting knocked over and Robin marring then divorcing Mike. Tyson was the biggest con boxing history, and as time passes the disgrace fades even more from the public eye. It's almost like people don't want to believe the truth.

Between 1987 when Foreman made his amazing comeback and the 1994 when Foreman regained the heavyweight championship, there's plenty of time by which Tyson could have fought him but he did not. Ditto with comebacking Larry Holmes who avoided a Battle of the Ages fight with Big George.

I don't think so. He fought ruddock in 91 twice who arguably, was more dangerous at the time than Foreman. He lost to Douglas, then after that, all he wanted was to get back the title. I think it was just the way things panned out with Tyson going to jail for three years in 92 that it just never happened.

No.........He was not afraid, but he knew that the public would probably be on old Georges side on his return sideshow. Tyson had lost to Douglas, but had comeback to score wins over contenders prior to his loss to Evander in 96. He may have been afraid if George after becoming champ again had continued to box, as Tyson was on his way down after his 96 loss to Holyfield.

I like George, but a prime Tyson would of killed the old George. George did say he would fight anyone, but Lennox Lewis

No, I don't think so. Mike ain't afraid of nobody. The fight just didn't happen due to circumstances in Tyson's life, specifically his conviction for rape and subsequent jail term.

There ain't no fear in Iron Mike. He's afraid of no one. If George can not be KOed by a legitimate punch, plan B's the ear biting. He's got razor sharp teeth.

Iron Mike was afraid of no one, how can a boxing legend be scared of anyone, the man was the world champ for a reason-he never ducked a fight with anybody, Patterson v Liston now theres a champ who was sh...ing himself

i believe don king may have feared him beating tyson but i rlly think tyson in his prime feared no man he said a few times that mayweather isnt built like him that hed of ben dying to fight pacq

He saw what Foreman did to Frazier and said, fudge it.
