First of all, I think trash talking is great for the sport of boxing, because it can hype a match up. Some fights would be nothing if it weren't for the trash talk in my opinion. Some trash talk is controversial. Either way, I think trash talking makes boxing more interesting sometimes.
Here are my top 5.
1. Muhammad Ali. In my opinion, nobody is better than Ali when it comes to trash talking. His rhyming predictions of when his opponents would fall were pretty accurate at times. His lines were classic. He called Joe Frazier a gorilla, Sonny Liston a bear, Floyd Patterson a rabbit, George Foreman a mummy, etc.
2. Mike Tyson. "I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there's ever been. There's no one that can stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I'm Alexander, he's no Alexander. I'm the best ever! There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!" Nuff said.
3. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Definitely crosses the line at times, especially when he insulted Filipinos which was absolutely terrible. But he is still one of the best trash talkers in my opinion.
4. Ricardo Mayorga. The reason he is even relevant is his trash talking in my opinion. Trash talked Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, etc. It works to hype up the fight.
5. Hector Camacho. The Macho Man was one of my personal favorites in trash talking. He made everything exciting.
