Of course they aee great.
Duran is considered the best p4p fighter in the last 30 years by espn, the International Boxiing Research Org. and by most any expert.
Chavez sr imo is very underated today. If you consider Mayweather a top 20 p4p all time great, which i do, then you must consider Chavez greater.
Once 90-0 never dodged anyone beat some monsters.
Yes without question. Duran I would put a far second at behind Sugar Ray Robinson in his prime years as a lightweight was practically unstoppable and unbeatable. He was a total package. The goods. He also had longevity. He ruled the lightweight division like nobody else. Chavez I put him lower maybe top 5-6 or so. He did everything well but nothing supreme. This made him a complete fighter. He also has longevity.
Great fighters, Legends, ATG's, and fought everyone. Duran was King at 135 and Chavez was king at 140. Chavez Sr is one of the only guys I give a good chance to beat Duran at 135. They were very gifted boxers with serious skills and not just brawlers. Two of my favorites. Only reason they both eventually fell was because of partying, drugs and old age. Duran went 82-1 I think and Chavez went 89-0
Duran top 7, Chavez top 30-40.
Both are great fighters.
Two of the best Latin boxers definitely and among the sport's all time greats..Words would not suffice to define what they have done for professional boxing. Fighters who earned their spurs and paid their dues before they fought for the world championship. And when they ascended to the world stage, it also took generations of special fighters and Father Time to stop them.
Yeah, both are top 10 greatest p4p.
Both in their own time period would be considered P4P greats in their lightweight division.
what is your opinion of them and are they p4p greats in your view?
