Does every kid on here need this much time planning and event management and money spent on their birthdays? It's ridiculous. Why do all their parties have to be "The Best" or "Amazing" or "Something the school will be talking about for weeks to come?!"

We used to have pool parties and potlucks when I was a kid and it was never about how big the party was or that it cost a fortune. It's just so shallow and self involved.

Celebrate alone. You need the experience to prepare you for your 40's and onwards.

i am not having a party this year but would like to do something amazing for my birthday!

i was thinking maybe going to a hotel with 5 or so friends in the city?

does anyone have any similar suggestions or done anything like that?
