Since you have a DJ work with what you have. Even if the DJ doesn't do games you can still create games based on the music he is plays. An example being if a certain song is played that everyone knows the dance moves to have a competition with people dancing to the music. The winner could receive a $5 gift card or simply $5. This is a great way to keep everyone having fun while motivating them to participate. Also don’t worry too much about games. The best thing you can do is let the party flow. If you have a lot of people then chances are you don’t need to worry about games because people will talk/ dance/ create their own games. The only other piece of advice I have for you is keep items that can be used for games handy. Some examples of these objects could be blindfolds, empty bottles, water balloons, chocolate coins, etc.
I also wrote about another game at the end of the party favors section.
***Music
You already have a DJ so you don’t have to worry about music. However you might want to have an iPod with your favorite songs to play after the DJ leaves.
***Centerpieces
Since balloons and table weights are the simplest way to go why not spruce them up a bit? Two examples of ways to enhance your table arrangements are as follows.
1) Take old jam jars/ glasses and put the table weights inside of them. Then fill the jar with enough jelly beans to cover the table weight. For however many seats per table you have attach that many balloons to each table weight and leave a handful of colorful sharpie markers at each table. This way when people wander in they can write their name on a balloon (saving their seat) while enjoying the party and socializing. Also leave a little confetti around the table.
2) Instead of putting balloons in the center of each table tie them to the back of the chairs. This will space the balloons out and makes it appear as though you have more decorations. Then as a centerpiece put a vase/ glass/ old jam jar in the center and fill it will candy or flowers. A fun combination of both would be to order personalized M&M in the colors of your party and layer then in a vase or jam jar. Then stich a fake flower or two in the center whose color contrasts the M&M. Also you would put your favorite candy in the center.
***Party Favors
Don’t worry too much about party favors. The best way to go with these is to have on a separate table a few containers full of a variety of things. Some examples would be candy bars, lollipops, chocolate coins, nail polish, key chains, mini squeezey soccer balls/ footballs, free movie ticket voucher from your local theater etc. Also a fun creative way to have people select their party favor would be to have mini garden buckets
(like this http://i00.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/119/174/4...
at one end of the table and the favors spread out, allowing people to go “shopping” for their favors. This could also be a game. The table full of people who best entertains you (The Sweet Sixteenth Girl) with a rhyme/ chant/ dance/ song/ poem gets to choose their party favors first.
I'm having my sweet 16 fairly soon (August 9th) and am in some need of help. I have a DJ booked but he doesn't do games. What would be some cool games that aren't too childish for teens?
I'm also having a candy bar as my party favors.
For centerpieces what could I make very cheap that looks expensive I have balloons and balloon weights as well as table cloths and confetti, but what else?
