In my family, when a kid turned one, we would just a little private celebration. We'd plop the kids in their high chairs and put a piece of cake in front of them and let them go to town and make a mess. Anything dropped on the floor would promptly be cleaned up by the dog.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with throwing a themed party until the kid's about 3 or 4. Like Broadway implied, the kid won't remember anyway (but I won't use the term brat).
Ditch the bags and buy more champagne for the mothers.

So, my daughter will be one on Saturday and her party is the same day. We're having a Hello Kitty theme and I have no idea what to give out in her party favor bags! Anyone have any good ideas?
