Pryor resented the respect Arguello received from every avenue of the press, media and public. First, Leonard and then Arguello. Pryor was often overlooked by the media.

Forget that bottle because there is no proof that it actually helped Pryor. Pryor wanted to chop Arguello down and he took out years of anger on him. He destroyed Arguello in the rematch as well. Also, look at how well Pryor out-boxed Arguello before stopping him.

America loves Pacquiao. Mayweather is learning that the same way Pryor would. Aaron is great but he lacks any star appeal. He had to rough it the same way Marvin Hagler did. It was only after vanquishing a well beloved Latin fighter (Duran) that non-fans even began to notice Hagler, and even then, he failed to finish the smaller Duran.

Pacquiao would be the star and Pryor would loath every bit of it. In the beginning, Pryor would be expected to go wild. However, he would box in much the same way he did against Arguello, that is until Pacquiao, who is much faster than Arguello, wakes the sleeping giant.

Pryor would begin to land in much the same way Marquez did in each of his fights with Pacquiao. While Manny would score early, knockdown in round 3, Pryor would come on later in the fight when Pacquiao slows down and begins to miss.

Pacquiao misses a right hook in round 9 and Pryor drops him with a straight right hand. Pacquiao makes it to his feet but barely out of the round. The following round is much the same as the previous one, but with Manny still on his feet.

Pacquiao has just one fight at 140 against an already once kayoed and already mentally disturbed Ricky Hatton. Yes, Manny scored his highlight reel greatest Ko against that Hatton. But I still question how he would have fared against the Kostya Tszyu-prime Hatton or a prime time Julio Cesar Chavez at that weight.
Pryor on the other hand built his legend at 140. He was the uncrowned fifth of the Four KIngs of the 1980s. He fought and decisively beat Antonio Cervantes when no one from 135 including Roberto Duran to 147 lbs. including Wilfred Benitez who barely survived in scoring a hometown upset over Cervantes in Puerto Rico would dare get in the ring with the legendary Kid Pembele
Pryor reigned dominantly at 140 from the late 70s through the mid 80s that he ran out of viable opponents as the other champion Saoul Mamby avoided him like a plague and Duran bypassed him and went straight to the welterweights. Pryor issued a challenge against Duran, Leonard and Tommy Hearns whom he beat in the amateurs but no one except for then lightweight kingpin Alexis Arguello stepped up to the plate. And Pryor stopped him not once but twice, the last easier than the first.
Do you mean to tell me that Pacquiao stands a chance against a Pryor that most legends have avoided and only Arguello at his strongest prime dared faced at the cost of his worst defeats?
Pryor's workrate and toughness vs. Pacquiao's speed and agility. I'd go with Pryor by razor thin decision in the most brutal fight ever witnessed.
