Old School vs New School Part VIII?

Emile Griffith vs Floyd Mayweather Jr

15 Rounds

147lb

Griffith was a bigger guy, but I think Mayweather's movement would have given Floyd the advantage. Mayweather by decision, Griffith would have given Floyd trouble in a phone booth, but not a boxing ring.

It wouldn't be easy for Griffith but I think he would edge Mayweather out. Griffith was much more experienced than Mayweather and was naturally bigger. Mayweather is a small welterweight and the biggest man he ever faced was De La Hoya at 154 lbs who he beat by SD. On the other hand Griffith was world middleweight champion, he beat Ni?o Benvenuti and Dick Tiger, fought a host of middleweight contenders of the 60's and 70's and even gave the great Carlos Monzon a run for his money when he himself was past his best.

I think Griffith takes the decision in a closely contested fight.

Griffith UD15.

I think Mayweather has the stamina to compete for 15 rounds BUT he wouldn't be as good in the later rounds as you see him now. Mayweather wins by UD 11 rounds to 4

Stick
