Nietes detroyed fuentes, big deal?

Most definitely a good win. Their first fight was great, but I could'nt find a stream for the rematch last night.

Both Fuentes and Nietes are solid fighters. If I had it my way, I'd like to see Nietes move up and mix it up w/ the likes of Roman Gonzalez, Juan Estrada, Segura, Ioka, Viloria, etc...

I don't think he'd beat most of them, but he'd definitely make a fight of it.

Did you see the rematch last night? Good action or did Nietes just dominate?

It was a big deal considering that he is the best Filipino boxer I have seen as of late. Crispy combinations and a game plan followed to perfection. I just saw the fight and I am very impressed. What a performance by Nietes. I have a feeling that he can beat whoever holds the title once he decided to move up in weight. The best I have seen for a long time from a Filipino fighter.

Fuentes certainly looked more like a junior featherweight up there with Nietes who I suspect came in also above the light flyweight limit after both checking in at 108 lbs.at weigh-in. But Nietes used his better mobility and the entire size of the ring to spin away whenever Fuentes came dangerously near or was able to corner him and his faster hands to outbox and counter the Mexican.

Nietes also found out that Fuentes could not take body punches very well and he exploited that to slow down, later stop his attack and with the Mexican lowering his hands to protect his breadbasket, was able to tag him with straight and overhand rights which is the Filipino's main weapon.

With his continuing improvement and the improving level of his opposition, I am beginning to believe that Nietes is currently the best Filipino world champion

But he has to move up to the flyweights to tangle with the likes of Estrada, Roman Gonzales and Brian Viloria whom I think he also has a chance to beat.

nietes was patient, he let fuentes pressure him and absorbed it well... and yes fuentes was scary, bigger and ripped that night... nietes combinations was awesome, he was spectacular... he was consistent till he dropped fuentes 3x in round 9 and win via KO

that fuentes aint the same skinny kid the snake schooled last time... aint the mexican looks so big that night? why do they always do that now a days, if they cant beat a brownman, hire a shaman and turn their fighters to a rock golem...

wtf, did the snake just beat a hard as rock fuentes?
