Need advice on throwing a themed adult party....?

When I was a 'young adult' - back in the day, some 4 decades ago - 'Vicars & Tarts' parties were quite popular.

Guys wore clerical grey suits and their female partners tried to dress as whores - suspenders, fish-net stockings, half-exposed bosoms, etc. All good 'fancy-dress' fun.

Licensed naughtiness.

And in my circles, at least - more ONE or TWO-fingered gestures against the ancien regime - than any subsequent drug-ridden RAVES our younger counterparts indulged in.

As a ripe-old septuagenarian - I find it difficult/impossible to define what ADULT means nowadays.

When I was a whole lot younger - had hair -slicked-back behind my ears, Elvis Aaron Presley-style - adults/old people were 40-somethings.

Nowadays, they're 60 or even 70-somethings - with vastly different views on what's IN/OUT - Current/Old Hat - nostalgic or best forgotten.

I can but wish you good luck in deciding on a theme appealing most to the ageing majority.

; ))

.

What about "Music Idols" or "Legends of Music" - something along those lines. Just give a simple explanation that they can dress up as their favourite musical god.

I am throwing a party for adults. I decided on a costume music theme where guests come dressed as a musician/singer. The problem is I cant find any advice or additional ideas for this type of party. Apparently all of the music theme parties are done as decades (ex. Disco, 80's, etc.) I thought it would be more interesting to open it up to all genres and eras? Any suggestions???
