My son wants to be a athlete how can he?

Yep. Just play. Play anything of interest and don't interfere as a parent. Most(not all) coaches were or are athletes and know how to help kids along. I coach and play baseball. I love helping the kids learn the game and develope. I focus and enjoy their game more than my own.

One problem though is some parents, who don't play, intervening about things they don't understant. I've seen parents take their kids out, be upset because a kid was yelled at or they think he or she should play something he or she isn't strong at.

Here's my thing, I put my kids in the best position to contribute to the team.. that's what its about, finding a role and building something as a team over a season. Putting them in the best position to succeed at what they are doing. Not everybody can bat third or play QB. Besides the last thing a kid wants is his parents "talking" to coach. You gotta let em play and develops. And don't get bothered by yelling or dicipline. I'm not saying look the other way if something is over the line but understand where the line is. Properly equip your kid and see where he takes it. But remember it is about having fun but sports are about hard work and heartbreak as well. There will be periods of unhappiness but stick with it. Practice practice practice. Takes years to really develops. Some develops faster than others. I've seen kids be the worst on the team one year then become an all star the next so commit and work hard

1. Learn the techniques of running to becoming even faster without doing much.

2. Jog to build stamina and to get fitter and build muscles which will also prevent injuries.

3. Join a running athletics club, therefore he learns more things, creates friendships with other runners which have a similar lifestyle to him.

4. Teach him good discipline, have a back up - School! This is not guaranteed to become the next Usain Bolt.

5. Get him the correct equipment

6. Train individually on the track on speed drills BUT always start with a warm up (Light Jog which slowly increases and then slowly decreases)

7. Diet, tell him to eat healthy foods and to drinks plenty water on a daily basis at least 8 cups a day (1.8 litres)

8. Learn from the athletes themselves and take it in consideration.

9. Never give up in what he dreams.

10. Give your son all the advice in the world in what you know even about dieting or even running but always discipline

Once he starts to play a sport on a regular basis he is an athlete. He can join a track club or school team or do cross-country or football or any sport he wants to , if you will let him.

The term athlete is somewhat subjective, technically golfers are athletes but some of them look borderline obese. If your son wants to be a professional or a world class competitor, he needs two things; 1. TALENT and 2. PRACTICE (and lots of it.) If you think he has talent and potential to be great at athletics then find a local trainer that will teach him proper technique and practice exercises.

Join a sport, or club that offers the sports your son would be interested in.

play a sport

My son in 12 and he ran the 100m in 14.02 and he ran the 200m in 31.04. He doesn't do athletics on a regular basis but he wants to get into it and get better and one day become a athlete what can he do to make that goal
