I know competition wise ,Floyd should be fighting the best fighters of his weight division like Keith Thurman or Kell Brook but they arent as well known in the boxing world as Amir Khan.
I also know Kell Brook has a good fanbase but that's only in Sheffield U.K. ,Amir Khan has a fanbase in the U.K. ,the Philippines as well as the U.S. so that makes Khan more marketable ,that's why he's getting the fight over the better welterweights ,boxing is a business as well as a sport.
It ain't confirmed that Khan is going to fight him...But Manny Pacquiao is pretty much the only person Mayweather needs to fight. According to reports, Manny Pacquiao is going to America to have talks with The Money team to have this fight. Also Pacquiao is the top contender for Mayweather's title and i think Amir Khan is not in the same league as Mayweather, he's overrated and Amir Khan doesn't deserve to fight A quality fighter like Mayweather. Mayweather would demolish him even as a defensive fight.
Khan may not be the most durable guy out there but he's a real talent and more deserving of a chance at Floyd than any of the current crop of "challengers" at welter other than Bradley and maybe even Lara if he should choose to fight at 154.
If they were willing to give Andre Berto a shot just a few years ago, why not Khan who was well on his way before he got derailed by Danny Garcia, who apart from beating Matthyse, has looked dodgy against an old and faded Erik Morales and Zab Judah who loses interest in the middle of his fights.
Amir will be the first guy since a prime Zab Judah, who can really match or even surpass Floyd when it comes to speed, intelligence and footwork. It should be an interesting fight.
He have a few options because the best fighters is signed with Top rank. Timothy bradley and Manny pacquiao for example.
I know that Floyd mayweather beat many HOF's but he will have to settle with Amir khan or Erislandy Lara because there is no one for him to fight.
I'm also not interested in the fight but his opponent selection is at a minimum.

They have many important fights that should happen but promotional issues and financial tides will seperate them from happening.
i really believe this will be a better fight than 90% of people think . i agree khan isn't the no1 contender but i do think he will put up a better fight than expected . the simply truth is that @147 floyd won't fight any of the top 3/4 we have bradley but he's top rank so that won't happen then JMM who has already lost to floyd ,then there's manny again that won't happen ,then broner is next and again that won't happen not yet anyways .then there's kell brook hardly a PPV star . danny garcia is the best at 140 but his style wouldn't do well vs floyd .
the way i look at it is that khan is never in a bad fight and i'm sure floyd vs khan will be a lot better than the guerrero or fight.
people seem to of forgotten that floyd fought ortiz not long ago and khan is a better fighter than ortiz .

sadly i dont think the khan fight will even break the floyd/guerrero fight...brittish fans aint that all out for khan than hatton, dont know much, could b hs character or hs ethnicity, pakistan could also b half hearted to support him, he grew up brittish, the philippines barely talk of pacquiaos latest developments, too busy over yolanda, they wont care about a khan fight.

Just face it Floyd is the best out here if he killed Manny which he would everyone would say Manny is old check this out Floyd is two years older than Manny . Stop making excuses and being raciest. There are many guys more deserving then Khan, but no one brings more money, except Pacquiao.

Why should Mayweather face a guy that might be able to beat him if he doesn't have to? He has a winning streak to maintain.

Yes there are, but there were more deserving opponents than Gatti, De Le Hoya, Marquez, Ortiz, Guerrero, Cotto, and Alvarez. Its the Mayweather way.
For all we know Floyd would not fight deserving ones. Not unless they agree his terms one of which is to limit their punches.
