Well spotted.it's weird that Schmeling actually managed to live to the age of 99.anyway RIP champ.
Louis's most notable wins were:
his KO over Bear (Fight of the year for 1935)
the rematch with Schmeling
both Conn fights were epic especially the first were he pulled it back so late in the fight(fight of the year 1941)
Both wins over Jersey Joe were great especially when you consider that Walcott went on to KO Charles in 1951
Happy Birthday champ! Louis was more than a boxer, he was an inspiration to black Americans at a time when they were treated awfully. He was accepted even by racist's and in his quiet way did a lot for black fighters. After him Sugar Ray Robinson, Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore broke through, if it wasn't for Louis who knows how long it would have been before they were given a level playing field.
BQ:
Primo Carnera TKO6. (Louis' breakthrough win.)
Max Baer KO4.
James J. Braddock KO8.
Jack Sharkey KO3.
Max Schmeling KO1.
1) His revenge win over Schmeling, validating his title. Also, making him a national hero.
2) Beating Baer to win the title.
3) Beating Carnera, which mainly made the Boxing world decide that this guy deserved a shot at the title.
Joe's best wins were the rematch with Schmelling and the first Billy Conn fight.
yes would have been around 100 years....best win was against the much hyped german max schmiling...although other fights might be perceived as being more interesting ko wise....what does bq stand for.
