Is Carl Froch's "Streak" really that impressive?

it's strange how one fight can make you change your opinion about some one but it has .

i think froch has done very well in recent years but he isn't near calzaghes level or wards level .and in his last 8 fights he lost 2 and was very lucky not to have lost another vs groves at the weekend .it could be said that froch either beat an old fighter or lost ,taylor, Abraham's, johnson were old and past it ,dirrell many think he beat froch kessler did beat him and ward easily beat froch . in reality it's great that froch has fought the best fighter he could of but how good were they .

As most of you know I am the biggest King Carl Froch fan in the world not because he is the best middle weight but because he has the mot heart of any of them. Carl will fight anyone any where any time.Yes he lost that fight to Dirrell yes he was loosing the fight to Taylor before he knocked him out in the last round and yes Ward gave him a first class beating he lost a fight to Kessler that could have gone either way in Kessler's home town came back and gave Kessler a beating and he almost killed Buts in his home town. There are no negatives about Froch's career . Carl believes that he can beat anyone something most fighters today don't really understand. One more thing who said you have to be a undefeated fighter to be a crowd pleaser. The thing you have to love about a guy like Froch is he has never cheated any of us when he get's into the ring you know one thing for sure the person who wins is supposed to win and is the better fighter. The Grove fight was not Carl's fault yes he was getting beat so what he fought his a$$ off. Just look at those names you mention show me another middle weight that has a resume like this. Long live Kink Carl Froch.

My thoughts are you have a problem with the Cobra. He beat Dirrell, there was no injustice there, Dirrell was fighting like a girl in there. The first Kessler fight was extremely close, he probably only lost it cos the fight was in the Dane's backyard. Bute was an undefeated world champion, he was the bookmakers' favourite going in to the fight and Froch destroyed him so there can be no excuses although yeah Bute should have had a loss on his record going in to that fight like you say. Everyone gets outclassed by Andre Ward, there's no shame in it, he's the P4P prince. Taylor was seconds away from claiming a unanimous points victory over Froch so the weight wasn't a problem. He was winning on the scorecards but Froch stopped him in the closing seconds because Taylor was burned out and Froch started using his reserves.

The only Froch fight I have a problem with is the Groves one where he was losing by 4 rounds on my card but then was handed victory by an over-zealous Howard Foster. I've watched that 9th round over and over and there's no way Groves was in the sort of trouble that requires the referee to wave it off. I think Groves would have made it through that round no problem and then came back stronger in the 10th and eventually go on to claim boxing's biggest prize but he was robbed

No, the streak isn't that impressive after last weeks performance.

Adonis "Superman" Stevenson won a IBF Super Middleweight title

eliminator when he defeated Donovan George last year rather than,

fighting his mandatory Adonis Stevenson for the IBF belt he took a

lesser opponent in Yusaf Mack. I can understand why ended fighting

Yusaf Mack because everybody in the Super Middleweight division is

avoiding fighting Adonis Stevenson. Adonis has since moved up to the

Light Heavyweight division and recently dethroned "Bad" Chad Dawson

so, no he clearly didn't deserve the win over St. George Groves it was a

horrible stoppage, this shouldn't been happening in boxing, these people

are making a mockery of the sport of professional boxing. And that Bob

Foster referee should be ashamed of himself helping that man to win he

should never be allowed to call a major title fight in pro boxing ever again.

Actually, when you look at it, yeah, it's pretty damn impressive. I disagree with OneDrop on the Direll fight, I though it was a home town decision that Froch should have lost, and more unjust that the quick stoppage of the Groves fight. I jumped on board the Froch Fan Wagon when Carl KOed Taylor and cemented his legacy by exposing Bute. Carl Froch is in my opinion as good or even better than Calzaghe, and one of the best European fighters I have seen in a long while. It took awhile for me to come around, but I have to admit, I am a Froch fan and he and Ward are two of my favorite 168 lb fighters.

Carl Froch says he has had the toughest schedule in boxing over the last few years, starting with his title fight against Jean Pascal. I've bought into the hype of the "streak" too, which certainly looks very impressive on paper.

However, if you examine his list of opponents, and when he fought them, more closely, the "streak" becomes far less impressive.

Jean Pascal - This was a legitimately tough fight and Pascal is a top class boxer. The only problem I have with this fight is Pascal had never fought anyone before this fight.

Jermain Taylor - Career middleweight who had only had one fight at 168 against a shot Jeff Lacey.

Andre Dirrell - Unproven, untested, and beat Froch who was given a very bad decision win.

Mikkel Kessler - Lost to Kessler who had been suffering with blurred vision since being headbutted by Ward.

Arthur Abraham - Another career middleweight who's only victory at Super middleweight at that point was against career middleweight Jermain Taylor.

Glen Johnson - Froch struggled to beat an absolutely shot version of Johnson who had only just returned to 168 after 10 years at 175.

Andre Ward - Froch got completely outclassed by Ward

Lucian Bute - Bute has always been massively overrated. Bute was KO'd by Andrade in 2008 but got a helping hand from the ref. Since then Bute has fought a long list of shot fighters, and C-level fighter before taking on Froch. The only good victories on his record are the Andrade rematch and Bika.

Yusaf Mack - C-level fighter who had been KO'd 4 times in his career before he fought Froch.

Mikkel Kessler - Kessler was way past his prime and had been out with vision problems for 2 years, (with one fight in between) but it was a good victory. The fight was a lot closer than the score cards suggest.

George Groves - We all know what happened here!

So what are your thoughts?
