How to spar with someone taller than me?

It is hard for a taller person to have real power when they hit downwards. So you should bend at the knees slightly, making you even shorter than you are. Your opponent will miss more often and when they throw a punch you weave round and spring up with a right or left hook. Frazier was not tall - Marciano was not tall - both were great boxers who beat the best ever. I dont rate Tyson.

You should easily land a straight right(or left if left is your stronger punch) to the stomach .. practice this on the heavy bag ... repeat stomach punching will make your opponent focus on protecting her stomach (I dont mean wild stomach punching I mean timed very hard punches) you can then rip in your right hook to the head ... THIS MUST BE PRACTICED ON THE HEAVY BAG. Punching is about muscle memory ... your brain will remember the muscles to use thats why you practice and practice and your timing and punches get stronger.

REMEMBER > power comes from your feet not your arms. !!!! So get your feet into position.

The straight right to the stomach should be thrown with your legs wide apart - left foot forward up n right toes .. pushing from the left foot as the anchor. Then the right hook is similar but turn off the right foot using the left as the base. Practice.

Boxing is not for girls.do something else.i am saying this because whenever I watch girls boxing, they are so scared of each other and in boxing heart matters

I suggest you bob and weave tyson style. Just watch on uppercuts.

go for heavy body shorts, ribs and kidnies!

I'm a 110 lbs girl (age 17) and I'm about 5'1. Today I sparred with a girl that was around 1 foot taller than me, and I really sucked bad.. I feel like it's the fact that she had easy access to my head. I tried moving my head quickly, dodging punches, and blocking the punches she threw, but her arms are pretty long so I wasn't too successful. Any advice on how I can spar with someone taller than me (and actually stand a chance)? thanks!

P.s. It's hard for me to find a sparring partner my size since the boxing gym is filled with huge guys and a few tall girls...
