HOWEVER, this doesn't mean you can't do gymnastics and enjoy the sport. Height really doesn't determine much as long as you have the muscle and power to get yourself around. I had a teammate who was 5'7' and won the national championships. Typically if you're taller, you will struggle with vault and some skills on floor, however you will shine on bars and beam. My advice would be to try it. I'm sure you'll love the sport, but please keep your goals realistic.
You're too old for gymnastics. Your height is fine. However, if you're very flexible, circus type acrobatics could be the thing for you. Check out a circus school near you. Alternately, if you can find dance classes for adults/teens, that might also be fun.
There is no height limit for gymnastics, most gymnasts are short because it postpones puberty because of the intenseness of it, therefore they don't have growth spurts at the normal age, so they are shorter. Also, their growth is stunted because of the pounding from landing so hard on the ground.
So, no you are not too tall, there is no height limit.
No, you're good. Nastia Liukin won the all around gold in the 2008 Olympics and she's 5'3.(:
If little kids can be in gymnastics, then you can too at your hight.
Well I have been doing dance for a while and u realize Iam very flexible and flexibility runs in our family and I'm interested in gymnastics because I'm flexible and pick up fast but I want to know if I'm too tall because I'm 14 and I'm 5'3 1/2 and many doctors believe I won't grow more from there. I also am in great condition brcause i have been in strength and conditioning for years And I hope to be in Olympics maybe but am I too tall?!?
