From what I noticed in his previous fights especially against tough, aggressive opponents, Canelo used his jab to measure them, keep him at bay and set up his more powerful punches--the hooks especially. He does not employ them mainly to unsettle the opponent and to score points like Austin Trout---as Floyd Mayweather---does. But Canelo has been improving in his game with the improving levels and varying styles of his opponents. He was able to score a hard knockdown against Trout which was partly aided in the set-up by his jabs and he was able to match up well with a very good jabber like Trout and even beat him on points. I would say, therefore that Canelo's jab is more than average.
His jab is good. He uses it to set up his combinations well. He needs to keep the pressure going and throw jabs to the body and right hands and hooks to the body when he gets floyd trapped at the ropes, to slow Floyd down and prevent him from running much. I think his Left uppercut might come in handy because Floyd tends to lean to the right when using the philly shell. If he does jab uppercut with the same hand and then a right looped hand to the sides of the body that might work. But it is easier said than done.
Saul Alvarez's jab is pretty decent. His jab is going to be an effective tool against Floyd Mayweather Jr., and needs to be consistent with it. I'm not sure if he is very consistent with it, but a good jab is a key to winning against Mayweather.
Canelo has a great jab, he will need the jab if he wants to beat money man.
canelo got good jabs against trout, but floyd is faster and got great defense, those jabs, to be consistent will be needing extra tanks of gas to utilize it more effectively against a very slippery opponent like floyd....
sad canelo doesnt have that luxury....
Not good enough to get him a victory on September 14th. Well, it might be if he could land it but he won't be landing anything near enough jabs or any other punches for that matter come fight night, but he'll get well paid and then he can fly off somewhere & enjoy the money.
He's got a solid jab. Just needs to use it more often.

not good enough to beat money manyweather it doesnt even matter he can bring god in the ring with him and he will still lose against mayweather
I've only watched one of his fights..the one against Austin Trout..in which Canelo didn't really look like a 'world class fighter'.
Floyd has struggled against jabbers like de la hoya and castillo....so to beat floyd you need to have a great jab.
