If you hold the coconut in your hand and tap the coconut with a hammer consistently around the circumference of the coconut that is open to you it will eventually break in half but you have to be ready to collect the milk when it finally breaks so hold it over a bowl and if necessary pour the milk thru' a sieve.
A saw will do it. I'd use a hand saw. The hard part is clamping the coconut into something so you can saw it without also sawing your hand.
He'd drain that coconut a whole lot faster if he made 2 holes, one for the 'milk' to come out through & one for the air to go in through. And using a big nail in those circle bits on the top is much better than faffing about with that knife.
OMG he's really dragging that recording
A knife
So I got a little coconut from Wal-Mart today. Okayyy so bare with me here this really is a stupid question but I really want an answer. Okay so I want the coconut's shell. I could care less what happens to the milk inside. How do I cleanly slice a coconut in two equal cups? Because I've always been told you need a machete just to 'open' one. I don't want to just open it. I want it in half. How do I do that?
