Hands up high. Watch videos (Amazon.com) of bobbing , weaving, slipping punches, head movement, to gain a more realistic view of why you're getting hit so much.
Watch how the other people (professionals and in your gym) move to avoid getting punched. Do a lot of bobbing and weaving etc. in your shadow boxing. Do that enough times and it will become a natural instinct when you see the punches coming.
Buy a speed bag and work on your reflexes.

I started sparring a month ago and my sparring experience was bad. My defense is very poor and I get hit by almost every punch my sparring partner throws at me...lol. I'm sparring this experienced guy who has some amatuer fights and he's not going light at all. He's trying to knock me out even when the coach told us to go 50% And when i punch with full power, he tells me to go light...lol wtf? . Is it suppose to be like this when you first spar? My gym is a gym owned by our state so everything is free. The gym and the lessons are free. You just have to sign up. However the downside of this is that the coaches want naturally talented guys or they lose interest in you. Because I did bad in my first few sparring sessions, he seems like he doesn't really care about me. I mean i understand that most boxng coaches will teach someone that's good and spend less time on crappy skilled guys but i love boxing and i want to learn whether im good or not. And I do think i need to practice a lot more to get good. Im 27 and i have a full time job and i can only go to the gym on tuesdays and wednesdays. Should i get like a friend taht can spar with me very lightly on the weekends or something? lol I really want to get better at sparring
