How can I get involved in boxing?

First of all that's great to hear a woman wants to start boxing. I'm 14 and also girl who boxes and there are only 5 other girls in my class compared to 20 men. It's also completely possible to box just for fitness. The coaches can't force you to do anything your uncomfortable with. Boxing is a great way to get fit and build confidence. It's never too late to start boxing. There is a woman who boxes with me who is in her 50s and is doing great with it. To find classes I would just google boxing classes with your towns name or you can go to fitness centers and see if they offer any classes. Find a boxing gym near your community.

In Puerto Rico boxing gyms typically don't carry a membership fee but I don't know how it is in your area. You may have to pay membership but if you do rest assured that the coaches will give you the attention which is good, unlike free gyms where you typically need to prove that your dedicated to get the attention thus the right mentorship.

this is a great idea its good to know how to fight especially if your a girl because women are more likely to be attacked then men you never know when somebodies going to rob rape assult and or murder you so knowing what to do in that situation is a good idea now rowing wont help you with this. your not to late to start and you dont need to compete either. but i would like to suggest mixed martial arts to boxing because its better for self defense and imo more fun. i dont know where you live but if your looking for a gym google maps is a good start if youve any further questions related to boxing or martial arts feel free to email me or talk to me through my questions

I am a 17 year old girl and I really want to get active. I am a little out of shape now and I need an activity to motivate me to workout and tone my body. I am looking at either picking up boxing or rowing.

How would I go about getting involved in boxing? Where would I go to look for lessons? Am I too late to start being that I know nothing about the sport? Is it possible for me to participate in the sport without being competitive and just reap the benefits of the workout? And honestly I really just want to punch somethings.
