If the hot dogs which you're referring to is just a sausage in the middle of a empty bun why not use the sausages to bake sausage rolls!? The famous "pigs in blankets". They're more party-like and may be even cheaper. All you will need are small sausages and some packs of crescent or biscuit dough.
Also serve something to sweeten the mouth, if there's no cake, you can serve jelly cups, popsicles or ice cream instead.
