As recently as about 120 years ago, that was the common way that foods were cooked. Some houses had spits and special hooks in their fireplaces for roasting meats and cooking pots. Cooking in a fireplace is no different than cooking over a campfire or on a barbecue grill.
I saw a guy cook a steak in his on TV so I tried it.It worked out pretty well.It was just like a campfire.I don't know how well it would work with a gas fireplace(mine's a real wood burning fireplace)
When I was a kid we would grill hotdogs and hamburgers in the fireplace in the winter . . .
popcorn . all the time m8
You can take POPCORN any time.
