Gymnastics question??

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Hallo! I'm 14 and I started gymnastics for the first time in November so I could join the high school team.

* You can go the gym as much as you can.

* You can practice what you can at home (cartwheels, backbends, handstands onto like a couch or something)

* You can work on your form as well as skills

* Be a good sport about being in the level 3 class

(I totally understand about being left behind - I'm on the high school team with a girl in my same grade that was the state beam champion this past year. Granted, she's been doing it since she was like 3, and I started at 14, but still. I get you.)

Good luck and have fun!

First off dont be embarassed! Level 3 is the gateway to amazing skills and other awesome achievements!

Work on your flexibility and strength EVERYDAY! Even if you have practice! Do splits for a min (left middle right). Once you have a split all the way to the ground start doing splits off of couches or chairs to further increase your flexibility (put one foot on something elevated and do your split).

Doing bridges everyday is going to help get your backhand spring and other jumping tricks. Don't hold them too long though (at max a min. BUT sometimes even that is too long, split up the bridges).

All I can say is the more time you practice the more you will achieve.

Good luck!

You should go to open gyms! They are usually about 15 dollars and are a great way to learn and work on new skills! You can also practice things in floor in the grass or if you have trampoline on there! But lastly don't be embarresed try your hardest and then you will move up! I hope I could help

I kno exactly how u feel!!!!! I have a similar story!!!!! Just get tons stronger, pushups, squats, v ups and get more flexible. If u r really strong and flexible, everything will be easy to learn.

I'm 13 and I just went back into gymnastics and I got placed in a level 3 class (which is kind of embarrassing) but anyways I see a bunch of girls my age doing really cool stuff on the bars and balance beams...

So what can I do to practice to get better?
