Not many employers are going to be happy about a new hire requesting ten days off just three weeks after starting. Be prepared to look for a new job when you get back from your trip. Perhaps you need to get your priorities in order.
work / play its your choice...
I got hired to work at a prestigious restaurant after going to the interview!! But i failed to tell them that i'm going to go on a trip to New York for ten days in less than 3 weeks. (My best friend bought the tickets which are non-refundable. This trip is solely for travelling but this is the first time i travel outside of my state or with him)
I haven't worked there yet and tomorrow is the day that they run the background check and get me officially hired. So it's kind of like the first day. They told me to buy appropriate shoes and all that to get me started.
I really really want to keep this job but how do i tell them about this? Do you think they will change their minds about me if i tell them before they make me official? I really wish i could just tell them the truth right away but i'm really scared. Some people recommended me work there for a week and a half and then tell them that i have a family emergency and have to be absent for 10 days..but that doesn't make much sense..
Can you please help me out?? I've never worked in food service so i don't really know how to do this.
